How often will I attend the Film Connection Film School Course?
Typically, a minimum of twice per week for 8 months. After the 8 months, you also get ONE FULL YEAR of enrollment in our Stay Connected program for no extra charge. If you want to go more than twice per week, we can arrange that with your mentor after acceptance.
When do your semesters start?
We are pleased to offer OPEN ENROLLMENT to all students. This means you can start at any time, year round. We encourage you to take the Film Connection Film Program either as an alternative to regular school or as a companion course to high school, college, or any other trade school in which you are enrolled. The Film Connection is also flexible around your current day or night job. Whether you’re full time or part time, our film program can work for you.
Is this a structured course? Or is this just a “FETCHING COFFEE INTERNSHIP”?
Secondly, this is NOT AN INTERNSHIP. It is an APPRENTICESHIP….BIG DIFFERENCE. As a Film Connection student, you will be taking our course one-on-one in private sessions and doing lab work. But the great news is that you will also be given the opportunity to do internship work while you extern. These two taken together, externing and interning, allow you to learn the trade as you pay your dues and make connections in the studio where you are training.
How many lessons are in your course?
There are 20 comprehensive lessons in our course. For more information, check out our Film Course Curriculum.
What if I don’t like my teacher?
If you need to work with another mentor, we will transfer you after you have completed four lessons, as many times as you need to be transferred until you are satisfied, as long as there are no excessive truancies or absences.
Is everyone accepted into the program?
No. You will be invited into the program if you make a lasting first impression at your no-cost open-house interview with your film mentor. Our admissions staff will prepare you for your interview the day before you go in, so as to help you “hit a 贵州11选5投注平台run” and get accepted.
What is the difference between a mentor and a teacher?
Mentors usually help with career advice and guidance, while teachers simply teach a course. Typically, the best teachers are also “mentors” (remember the movie “Dead Poet’s Society”?). Most mentors are teachers, but not all teachers are mentors. In the Film Connection, you are placed with a working professional film director, film producer, film editor or screenwriter. This person serves as both a teacher and a mentor to you!
Can I associate with my mentor after I graduate?
Of course! If you are invited back, we not only have no problem with that, we encourage it! We encourage all of our students to show up to every class, never be late, be dutiful and helpful, and BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR MENTOR/TEACHER that will last a lifetime.
Is this too good to be true?
We are the real deal. Please listen to what real students say about us in our testimonials section. None of them are scripted. They are talking about us in their own words. None of the students or mentors were paid to talk about us. They just like us for who we are….
